I would say yes, but you can expect a reasonable amount of time for the check to clear. I'm not sure how romanian banking works but that's how it works in the states.

Usually bancpost will do this for you quite easilly but sounds like you ain't banking with them..hehe. The process works like this: you go to the bank and ask the nice lady(who hopefully is not eating) to deposit an American check. They will create a special account for the check and ship it off by express mail to the states to have it collected. The whole process takes 4-6 weeks. The fees you will pay: Account opening fee, mailing fee, processing fee, account closing fee, cash withdrawal fee(like 0.8%). I have not done this personally but I have some friends who did this. I also tried banking in Romania and it's horribly expensive but that's how I know the fees and stuff. Hope it helps.
