Romania is a very beautiful country, I to have a motorhome and have driven to Romania and back 3 times in the last year , spending about 8 months in total within Romania, and visiting many wounder full places in the country. though some of the roads off the beaten track are not so good for heavy vehicle's with care most are passable. The people are Pleasant and accommodating , if you are totally self sufficient and cook your own food then i would suggest Metro as a good place to stock up, presenting your passport will get you a day pass as a visitor. i would say that most Romanian drivers (about99.9%) could do with a little extra driving tuition. as I found the safest time to drive in the lager towns was after dark. as most Romanian were in bed by 2am. I found the culture to be very diverce and every day pleasure. Now is a good time to be in Romania as it is anticipated that come January 2007, Romania with join the EU, So there may be changes. eating out is by uk standards cheap but the food is good. one of the nicest places I visited was the mountain region of Sinaia with picture post card sceanery. Brasov is a very nice town well worth a visit as is the region of Transuvania were you will find Bran Castle as legend wold have it the home of Dracular. Visit Targu jiu, The birth place of Bancusi, "THE FATHER OF MODERD ART". As with any destination at home or abroad take sensible precautions for your own safety, always secure your vehical when in or out of it dont leave valubles on show. have a good trip...Ken pentru Romania

1. One of the major problems this year in Romania is related to "bird influenza" (bird flu). You should be careful about the areas where the virus is present. ( Now-days in the centre of the country) 2. You should be very careful with payments with credit card. My advice is to use it only in the big stores and in banks. Otherwise use an ATM to get little ( !!! ) amounts of cash. 3.Although in major cities many peoples speak English, in rural areas you may have difficulties regarding the language. 4. Romanians are warm and friendly people but don't be too trusty with everybody. :)) 5. The country is beautiful. You should visit at least the Danube Delta, the Carpathians, monasteries from Bucovine, maybe the Black Sea coast, the capital Bucharest. Good luck and keep asking if you need more detalis :)))
