I am wondering how long do you have ti live in Romania until you are a resident? I want to adopt a baby from Barlad, I already know him, but international adoptions are closed and the only way to do it is if I become a resident. I know it's basically impossible, but I'm not giving up until I have him. I have fallen in love with him.

To be resident in a European country you must have a permission to stay longer than 180 days per calendar year. But you cannot adopt a child unless you are permanent resident (not just resident). To be permanent resident you need to reside in Romania for at least 5 continuous years to qualify. Good luck ====Update==== Yes three years if married to Romanian citizen, otherwise its five.
