I have visited some small villages in Romania and yes, they are peaceful and the people are nice but I was only a visitor. things are always so different if you move somewhere. I am living right now in Hungary and although I am married to a Hungarian and have visited Hungary over 10 times and stayed for very long periods, it's different now that we have actuall moved here to stay. All the red tape and hassles with customs ect. takes all the fun out of it. Life in these former eastern block countries has never been easy for the citizens living here and they don't always like outsiders, they are either jealous or suspisious of outsiders. Perhaps it is the cold weather coming on that makes everything here seem so dark and sad, I am ready to bail since I need some sunshine to live. In any case, you really need to see things with your own eys before doing anything rash.

There is no paradise anywhere, people are just people. That said just develop the right skills and get a job in the right place. Not a holiday dream - unless you are independently wealthy you need to have income so you need to have a job or a business.

I live in Romania :).The idea of moving here in a small town sounds pretty nice and, depending on what your preferences are, you may find a perfect place to move to.What is great about people around here, especially about those who live in rural areas, is that they respect traditions, have strong faith and they are warm and hospitable.Nevertheless, they somehow tend to be reticent to new staff and it may be difficult for you to feel comfortable around strangers who only speak the Romanian language or little Russian. It all depends on the community you decide to chose. Anyway, be careful and think about your job, your future prospects and whether you are ready to live in a country which is still facing recession.Hope you'll like it here!
